HOW DOES THE IMMUNE SYSTEM RESPOND TO THE PATHOGEN?

Our immune system is designed to recognize the cells that make up our bodies though. It also makes sure to repel any foreign and unwanted invaders such as viruses. Our body makes around a billion white blood cells every day which helps out our body when fighting an infection. However, when our body contracts a more powerful illness, we respond with that same attitude and attack it with powerful white blood cells called T and B lymphocytes.

B cells are the ones that make antibodies. These antibodies make sure to stop viruses from replicating. They also make sure to tag those same viruses so other blood cells know they need to destroy them. On the other hand, T cells have many roles to play. Some act as though they are guard dogs to raise alarm when they detect some invading viruses. They can also kill those same viruses themselves or help B cells produce more antbodies
